As part of M&C Saatchi’s “Kent Contemporary” campaign, Visit Kent commissioned us to develop an innovative website to give Kent residents and visitors a platform to share their passion for the county.
The home page features the 'Faces of Kent' which is an integral part of the campaign more broadly. This enhances user experience by providing consistency between offline and online media.
We recognised that there needed to be an exciting pull to encourage users to get involved. For this reason, when a user makes a new discovery, they are permanently displayed as the discoverer. This encourages users to be the first to review their favourite hidden gem.
For every new discovery, experience and photograph uploaded, a user is awarded explorer points. These contribute to their explorer rank. This competitive element encourages repeat usage.
By allowing users to login with their Facebook details, the sign up process is hugely simplified. In addition, when a new discovery is made, My Kent posts on to the user’s Facebook wall – thus increasing awareness.
